FRQ is an Indian hyperlocal fashion marketplace that puts real local bazaars and their shops online. You can browse markets and individual shops on frq.in before you step out, and every shop gets its own web address, for example yourshop.frq.in.

The platform is built for clothing, ethnic wear, footwear, accessories, jewellery and home textiles, so it stays focused on what Indian shoppers actually buy from neighbourhood stores. Shop owners open a store using the 'Create a shop' option on frq.in, and shoppers simply browse the markets listed there.

How shopping on FRQ works#

Step 1: Open frq.in and pick a market

Open frq.in on your phone or laptop. You see a list of local markets. Pick the one nearest to you or the one known for the category you want, such as sarees, suits, or footwear.

Step 2: Browse shops inside that market

Each market page shows the shops that are listed. Tap a shop to open its page. Because every shop has its own frq.in address, you can also search for a known shop name directly.

Step 3: Check product details and photos

Look at the product photos, fabric, colour options and listed price. FRQ pages are meant to mirror what is on the rack, so use them to shortlist before you visit.

Step 4: Note the shop address and hours

Each shop page shows its physical address and opening hours. This helps you plan a single trip instead of wandering the lane blindly.

Step 5: Visit, try, and buy

Go to the shop, try the sizes, check the fabric feel, and bargain as you normally would. FRQ is a discovery layer, not a delivery app; you complete the purchase at the counter.

How selling on FRQ works#

Step 1: Create your shop

On frq.in, click 'Create a shop'. You give your shop name, choose a market or locality, and set up your own frq.in web address.

Step 2: Add up to 50 products on the free plan

Upload product photos, write the fabric, size and price, and publish. The Free Starter plan lets you list up to 50 products at no monthly fee.

Step 3: Use the free counter billing tool

FRQ gives you a free counter (POS) billing tool so you can ring up sales at the shop without extra software.

Step 4: Sell with 0% commission on the free plan

On the Free Starter plan, FRQ charges 0% commission on your sales. If you need more products or extra features, paid plans start at Rs 199 a month.

Step 5: Keep your online page updated

When new stock arrives, add it to your FRQ page so browsers see fresh options. Accurate photos and prices build trust with nearby shoppers.

Common mistakes to avoid#

One mistake is expecting home delivery from FRQ. The platform is for discovering local shops; you visit them to try and buy.

Another mistake is trusting only the online photos. Fabric feel, stitching quality and colour shade can differ, so always check in person.

Sellers sometimes forget to update sold-out items. A shopper who travels to your shop and finds the product missing will not return.

A third mistake is skipping the market page. Browsing by market helps you compare several shops in one lane instead of searching shop by shop.

What to ask the shopkeeper#

Ask whether the fabric is pre-washed and whether it shrinks on the first wash. This matters for sarees, suits and Kurtis.

Ask for the exact colour batch. Dye lots can vary, and a slightly different shade is easier to spot on ethnic wear than on plain fabrics.

Ask about alteration timelines if the size needs stitching. Most local tailors take two to seven days.

Ask whether the listed price on FRQ is the counter price or whether bargaining is still expected. Some shops keep the online price fixed, others leave room.

Ask for a bill with the shop name and date. It helps with returns, warranty claims on footwear, and resale value for jewellery.
